Cockburn Ranges
Overview
A striking sandstone escarpment marks the eastern end of the Gibb River Road, famously featured in photographs of the iconic Pentecost River Crossing with the Cockburn Ranges as a dramatic backdrop.
This commanding range is the most prominent natural feature along the stretch of the Gibb River Road between the Great Northern Highway and the Pentecost River. Towering more than 600 metres above the surrounding plains, the escarpment offers breathtaking panoramic views.
