Balgal Cultural Tours: Aboriginal Cultural Fishing Tag-Along Experience

Join Balgal Cultural Tours on a unique fishing and cultural journey through the stunning landscape of Kununurra and the East Kimberley. Founded by Aimee Trust a Kija lady and led by herself or her experienced Aboriginal guides. This tag-along adventure immerses you in local fishing techniques, cultural stories, bush tucker education and provides you with a deeper understanding of the connection to Country.

What to Expect:

•Guided Fishing Experience which includes learning local fishing techniques and how to throw a cast net from knowledgeable Aboriginal guides.

•Breathtaking Landscapes teeming with wildlife. Tours are delivered at either the Ord, Dunham, Pentecost and King Rivers. The best location is selected for the day of the tour.

•Cultural Knowledge: Throughout the tour you will hear from your guides who will share stories, fishing techniques, bush tucker information and information about Country.

•Tag-Along Format: Drive your own 4x4 vehicle while following expert guides to the best fishing locations.

•Catch and Cook: If you reel in a fish, your guide will prepare it for you—ready to cook and enjoy at home or around the campfire back at Wuggubun Camp Ground.

Tours operate from May to October every year.

One Day Tagalong Cultural Fishing Tour

Duration: 8 hours approx.

Depart: Wuggubun Campground 7.30am

$450 for up to two adults

$50 for extra adult

Children under 18 are free

Half Day Tagalong Cultural Fishing Tour

Duration: 5 hours approx.

Depart: Wuggubun Campground 7.30am

$300 for up to two adults

$50 for extra adult

Children under 18 are free

*There are four main fishing tour locations within 60kms of Wuggubun Community Campground and each is affected differently by the tides. Your local guides will assess the tides and select the best tour option for the day, to ensure your experience is unforgettable.

If you are not staying at Wuggubun Community Campground, a meeting location closer to the fishing site can be arranged.
