NITMILUK NATIONAL PARK, NORTHERN TERRITORY

A trip to the Northern Territory is not complete without visiting the spectacular “Nitmiluk Gorge”. It features some of the most stunning gorge scenery in the Northern Territory, with raging waterfalls (in season), a myriad of wildlife and simply breathtaking views of the Jawoyn country.

Nitmiluk Gorge winds along 12km of sheer rock most more than 70m high. Consisting of 13 separate gorges, Nitmiluk Gorge is a maze of waterways sculpted from the sandstone over countless millennia by the Katherine River.

Nitmiluk Tours is the 100% Indigenous owned touring operation of the traditional Jawoyn people - operating all touring and accommodation facilities with the Gorge. We offer a great variety of tours that allow you immerse yourself in the history, rugged beauty and culture of this majestic region. Nitmiluk Gorge is located in the Nitmiluk National Park, 300km south of Darwin International Airport

Touring

Nitmiluk Gorge is the drawcard of the region. Guests can chose to cruise, canoe or swim in this ancient gorge system. Daily catered and non-catered cruises operate through the first 3 gorges in this incredible river system including our iconic dinner cruise. During the dry season from May to October, guests can hire canoes to explore the Gorge at their own pace. Guests can fly by helicopter to remote locations to swim in their very own crystal clear waterfall; fly to remote rock art sites with a guide to view images painted thousands of years before; or fly low over utter wilderness of southern Arnhem Land and Kakadu.

Accommodation

Nitmiluk Tours operates a number of accommodation options in the Park catering for all needs and budgets. These include one and two bedroom self-contained chalets, powered and non-powered caravan sites, campgrounds and a tent village with permanent tent structures. The luxury Cicada Lodge is also a part of the Nitmiluk Group

Facilities

Nitmiluk Tours operates the Nitmiluk Visitors Centre which provides a tour booking service, Parks information desk, static displays, souvenir shop and Kiosk serving meals on a large cool balcony overlooking the Katherine River. The Campground also has a Poolside Bar and Bistro which operates during the dry season offering delicious BBQ style meals and a selection of beverages.
