We meet at the Kununurra Visitor Centre and depart fro a 2 hour drive to the Argyle Diamond Mine site. Your driver/guide will provide an informative commentary on the landscape, history and ecology of the region. On arrival at the mine gate, your guide will commence the fascinating story of the Jaliwang Dreaming and the discovery of diamonds and the Argyle Agreement with Traditional owners to mine on country. We drive through the mine site to the workers mess where you will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch and an opportunity to browse in the Village Shop. There is a range of unique Argyle Diamonds on display and available for purchase. We will take you to the 'Designated Area' a high security zone accommodating the open cut mine, underground operations, mine tailings, the processing plant, and associated infrastructure. Your guide will describe all aspects of the diamond mining operation. The up to the viewing platform high on the ridge you will appreciate the enormous toil and effort that has been invested in the extraction of these highly valued gems. We will visit 'The Diamond Gallery', showcasing the many milestones from initial exploration through to current mining operations, including the evolution of the area. Leaving the mine, your guide will present each guest with a special souvenir pack, before the 2 hour coach back to Kununurra.
